Frédéric Saulou is a young, talented designer of barely thirty years of age. He lives in Rennes and produces truly original collections of furniture, lighting and pieces of art. Often combining different skills, Frédéric Saulou conceptualizes each project as a study in its own right, almost sculptural, always preferring a sensitive and poetic approach to shapes and materials.
“Miroirs de compagnie” (“Company mirrors”) Collection
Driven by the desire to carry out research related to methods of artisanal and industrial manufacturing, Frédéric Saulou wanted to combine these two practices in his collection. By combining digital factory tools and artisanal wood craftsmanship, especially the technique of hot bending, he succeeded in fashioning a resistant and self-supporting structure that can adapt itself to different objects.
Here, Frédéric Saulou chose the mirror. Available in two sizes and only in limited edition (twenty of each), these “company mirrors” occupy space with discretion and originality.
It was with this project that Frédéric Saulou won the Suddenly Made artists’ residency (Paris/Brussels) in 2016.
